Hello Android Thoughts World!
Posted by Kevin Jackson in "Android Thoughts Site Updates" @ 08:00 AM
I am excited and honored to join Android Thoughts as the newest Contributing Editor-in-Training. I have been a member of the Thoughts Media forums since way back when there were only two sites (PocketPC Thoughts and Smartphone Thoughts), almost a decade ago -- okay, it was about 7 years, but "decade" sounds so much better. Back then I remember being excited about my new Toshiba PocketPC e755 which I had just gotten to replace my Sony Clie which had, in turn, replaced my Palm IIIe.
As you can probably guess, I have a long-standing gadget obsession and the years haven't tempered it one bit. My current lineup includes a 3rd generation 64GB iPod Touch, a 2nd generation Amazon Kindle, an Asus EEE PC 1000HE dual-booting Windows 7 and Ubuntu Netbook Edition, an Asus K52JR-X5 laptop, a Dell Zino media PC, a home-brew server running Amahi, and, most importantly, a T-Mo Nexus One running stock Froyo 2.2.2 and a Dell Streak 7 tablet. I moved from a Blackberry Curve to the N1 just over a year ago and don't regret a minute of it.
I'm very optimistic about the future of Android as an ecosystem and I hope to share more about why I am so optimistic in the coming weeks and months.
I currently live in Bloomington, Indiana with my wife and two sons. I've just started a new job as an Information Specialist for a freight transportation research and forecasting company after having spent 7 years in software development and support. I have a Bachelor's degree in English Literature, with a Theatre Minor and an Associate's degree in Computer Networks and Systems, mostly so that I had a degree to go with the knowledge and experience that I had with computers and technology. I am very involved in my church, love to read and listen to music. One of my other obsessions is pens, of all things, so I spend much time pondering the practical considerations of the intersection of the digital and analog worlds.
I look forward to contributing (pun semi-intended) much to the discussion here on Android Thoughts and getting to know all of my fellow Android-philes better.
