Android Thoughts: Run Android Apps On Any Device With Alien Dalvik

"Remember that post a couple weeks ago about the Blackberry Playbook possibly being able to run Android apps? Well, if true, it looks like the Playbook won't be the only guy in town. Open Handset Alliance member Myriad has just announced a tool called Alien Dalvik, which is Android's Dalvik VM ported to other systems."

I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing for Android but is sure is cool. Imagine being able to run any Android program on any device you choose (though why you would choose anything other than an Android device is beyond me). Myriad plans to release Alien Dalvik for Meego initially then move to other platforms soon after. It will be interesting to watch how this develops. What are your thoughts?
