Android Thoughts: Google Maps for Android Now Has Hotspot Local Recommendations

"Hotpot, Google's local social recommendation service, has been integrated into Google Maps 4.7 for Android, so you can read and write reviews of restaurants and pubs, plus rate places for personalized future recommendations based on your tastes"

It's great to see Google bring yet another app to the mobile world, but is this any better than all the other applications that recommend nearby locations?  I think being currently limited to Android and PC's probably keeps a lot of good reviews from being added.   Do you use this or other location-based recommendation apps?  Let us know in the comments!
